“The truly free individual is free only to the extent of his own self-mastery.”

Steven Pressfield, in his book, The WAR Of ART.

I turned 46 last year and I’m still getting to know myself. I’m still finding out why I do what I do, discovering my motivations, my desires. But I’m getting better at this.

The older I get, the better I get at Self-Awareness. But I don’t think you every really get there. I mean, does anyone completely understand themselves? I don’t think it would be a good thing anyway… it’d spoil my spontaneity, my unpredictability that my family and friends enjoy. And besides, it’s the journey not the destination that gets me off.

But awareness of what drives you, what thrills you, what motivates you every day to succeed, that’s where the money is. Knowing who you are in the moment, knowing yourself in the now, that’s the key to living congruently.

When your thoughts, actions and habits are all congruent to your ultimate end goal, kicking goals becomes almost effortless. On the other hand, if your thoughts, actions and habits are not in alignment, there will be resistance. It’s like peddling a bike uphill against the wind; sure you might get to the top, but it’s gonna take a lot of effort. For some, resistance means little detours on the road to success. For others, this resistance forms an unmoveable roadblock that stops forward motion dead in its tracks.

Here’s the first step to overcoming any resistance.

Be aware that often where there is resistance, there is in-congruency between what you say you want to do and what you actually do.

Many times, this manifests in procrastination.

It may surprise you that I am guilty of this sin; we all are. Sometimes the procrastination is good; my subconscious mind is telling me I’m not ready, that more preparation work needs doing. Other times, it’s my lazy-by-nature side of me rearing its ugly head; and it’s only through Self-Awareness that I can spot the difference between the two and take the appropriate action.

For many of us, fixing this resistance, fixing our in-congruencies, does not require therapy, does not require you strip naked and run around campfires at midnight while chanting songs of praise. It does not require you to join some movement where they break you down so you can start anew.

No.

There answer isn’t ‘out there’… it’s inside.

It requires thinking inwardly.

It requires a bit of peace and quiet from outside distractions so you can go inside and pinpoint the problem.

I work indirectly with hundreds of business owners and entrepreneurs and writers and work directly with dozens of `em. Most, if not all, have some kind of resistance.

For some, just a little.

For others, a whole damn lot.

So the trick to overcoming resistance and procrastination comes down to knowing yourself.

To be truly free and successful you must master yourself. This means you must be honest with yourself. Don’t bullshit yourself. You have strengths, you have weaknesses. It comes down to being aware of who you are.

For me, I know what sidetracks me, I know when my most productive times are, I know where I should be spending my time to maximise my skills and earnings. So I keep a close eye on these things and take action every time I steer a bit off course.

It’s a daily battle; one that has to be fought anew each day.

Sure sometimes I falter and stray off course and the work doesn’t get done.

But most times I succeed.

Because I’m aware.

I’m on guard.

And I know this important point…

Self-discipline isn’t possible without self-honesty.

Cheers, Pete

P.S. Next week, I’ll give you my take on staying focused. You’ll discover a few unpleasant truths about the world we live… but more importantly, you’ll see how to stay sane, stay focused, and make more money. Until then, love to hear your comments about this week’s post above.

Pete’s Note: Everywhere you look its doom and gloom, war and famine; no wonder everybody is so damn serious these days. Anyway, I thought I’d lighten things up a bit, and post this little article which was sent to me recently. Let me know if you get a chuckle.

By David Attaboy – London, England

BIO: David Attaboy is a 48-year-old unemployed lorry-driver who until recently lived with his mother Irene in the tiny hamlet of Moon-me-on-Pond just outside of London. Thanks to facebook, this former recluse is now a celebrity in the “Abundance/Wealth Attraction” field and regularly speaks on this topic on stages throughout the world. David’s motto is, “You keep giving me money, and I’ll keep living abundantly.”

Ah facebook… what would I do without it?

In days of old (pre-facebook) when I wrote something cool, like a letter to the editor, I’d have to wait ages for folks to notice it and then call me… or worse, write me a letter.

It took days to get any feedback; and if you’re as shallow as me, waiting for this reinforcement to my ego was a very neurotic, worrying time.

With facebook, I can get an instant thumbs up and sometimes, I’ll even get a few comments. And I don’t even have to say anything great.

For example, here’s a recent post that galvanised my “friends” and had them commenting and hitting the “like” button like there was no tomorrow…

“The Universe is congruent to our inner-most selfish desires… to obtain true abundance, one must embrace the self.”

Now don’t ask me what that means okay. I just made it up.

But I found the vaguer I am with my comments, the more responses I get.

Plus, I don’t want to be specific because frankly, I really don’t know much about anything.

I mean, I left school at 15, haven’t read a book since, and my last job was back in 1994 when I used to drive lorries.

And besides, if I’m vague, folks will just read into it what they want and then think I’m some kind of genius (I’m building up a real following).

So I love this world we live in.

A world where anyone can be heard.

A world where anyone from a 12-year-old truant in Nebraska to old Ethel, the 87-year-old lady from Pyrmont Retirement Village, can all be heroes and experts and all have their say.

It makes my heart sing I tell you.

But upon my first exploration into the weird and wonderful world of facebook, I quickly realised there are certain conventions to uphold.

I felt like one of those natives in that movie “The God’s Must Be Crazy”… everything seemed so foreign. But I soon learnt my way around.

I discovered if someone likes you you’ve got to like them back. If someone comments on my wall, off I’ll go to their wall to have a read and leave a comment.

And I’ve realised I must be careful.

If I comment on Susie’s wall more than Jeff’s, well Jeff is going to start feelin’ a little insecure, maybe start thinking I don’t even like him anymore.

So I’ve got to be careful.

But after a year or so of stumbling around the minefield I’ve got it all sorted.

These days, I’m a celebrated speaker and it’s all thanks to facebook.

I don’t even live with my mum anymore and I’ve finally got a girlfriend, she just loves my celebrity stature.

Anyway, gotta go.

I’m speaking at a Wealth Attraction gig this afternoon… sharing my wisdom and insights on how to attract wealth.

See you on facebook!

What is it with people who don’t carry any cash?

Is it a scarcity thing?

Are they broke?

Are they scared to carry any cash in case they are robbed?

Who knows, but I tell you, they’re making a BIG mindset mistake… one that could shackle them to a lifetime of mediocrity.

Let me explain a bit about this here rant and why it’s important to you and ultimately, why it’s important to your financial health. Here’s the story…

It was our last week at the apartment and I was itching to get home. We all were. We had spent 6 months there as our house was being fixed up after the floods. So we were eager to get back home, get into the backyard and do our thing.

Anyway, the apartment was just a short stroll to one of the major Shopping Centres. It’s nice and handy. And seeing as I do a lot of the cooking at home, I had been walking to the Shopping Centre regularly.

On this occasion, according to the sign peering on down at me, I had one too many items in my basket for the Express Checkout. (Supermarket etiquette clearly states: Supermarket rules are NOT to be broken!)

This left me two options for getting the hell out of there.

I could use the self-service machines, an option I quickly dismissed as I watched a red-faced woman arguing with the automatic checkout machine, her face knotted in frustration. No way, not for me.

So that left the only other option; a choice of four or five checkouts that were opened.

I scanned my options, settled on my choice (in the back of my mind fearing I had made the wrong choice), and stood in line. In front of me were three folks; a business guy in a cheap suit, a middle-aged lady in a Toys R Us® uniform, and a young mum with two toddlers in tow.

Nothing special there.

However, it did take a while to get to me; that’s because all three of them paid with cards, not cash. All savings accounts too, not credit, so each customer had to enter pin numbers etc. The check out girl let out a sigh of relief when I pulled out a couple of fifties to pay my bill.

Strolling home, dodging traffic, I got to thinking. I thought of something I read the night before written by Matt Furey. His book “101 Ways to Magnetise Money” had arrived and I devoured it in one sitting. I knew it would be good. I like Matt and I like his stuff. You wanna think abundantly, spend a couple of days with Matt, he’ll sort you out. I know, because a few years back, Matt and I had spent a couple of days together hanging out at Starbucks talking marketing, copywriting, mindset and an electric mix of other topics that stretched my thinking.

One thing Matt talks about is having cash in your pocket.

It’s good for your subconscious.

You don’t have to spend it; just have a BIG chunk of notes right there in your wallet so every time you open it up, all those hundreds are staring back at you; reinforcing wealth into your subconscious mind.

Try it; this works.

I shared this at my Last Ever Master Class and I know a few students are now doing this… carrying a grand or two around with them wherever they go. I’ve got a client who carries a stack of hundred dollar bills in a gold money clip. Around ten grand’s worth. Never leaves home without it. It’s all good therapy. Because get this: If every time you open up your wallet and there’s no cash inside, just plastic, what’s this reinforcing? Lack! Scarcity!

Even if you are struggling at the moment, you can still do this.

When I was flat broke, still working for the man, robbing Peter to pay Paul, I had a lucky one hundred bill that travelled everywhere with me.

If I was hungry, I would take that sucker outta my pocket and have a look. But I wouldn’t spend it. I could, but I never did.

Hey, this wealth strategy is even more important if you grew up with a lack of money in your house. Chances are, if that’s the case, there’s a lot of negative crap running rampant inside your head concerning money. It’s important to grow and to unlock the shackles of the past and embrace an abundant future.

Coming from a working class, blue-collar background, I had a whole lotta hang-ups about money. It’s not until you start getting successful, start bringing in the money, that these hangs-up rear their ugly heads.

So I worked hard on myself.

I read the books, went to the seminars, spent time in the mornings to reinforce abundance.

There are many little rituals I still do every day to ensure I stay on the abundant path and don’t go careering off into the scarcity wilderness. Too many to mention here; but here are just a few of the things that work for me.

BIG POINT: I create for myself ideal situations and environments where wealth and abundance are the natural order.

I eat at top restaurants

I stay at 5-star hotels

I tip liberally and often

I carry a big wad of cash wherever I go

And so on.

But it’s in my writing bunker where you’ll see the images and feel the presence of abundance. I use wealth triggers around my office to constantly reinforce abundance.

$100 bills stuck on the walls so everywhere I turn I see money.

One draw full of cash that I open regularly and stick my hand in; sometimes adding to the bounty with a handful of notes.

Photos of cars and holiday resorts tacked on my walls.

Clocks everywhere I look to reinforce time is money and to get busy.

I use everything I can to keep my mind on abundance.

Because it doesn’t matter how much we know, what opportunities we are exposed to, or who we know, the FACT is: Success will elude us if we’ve got the wrong mental attitude. I work hard to keep a positive mental attitude because I know, that’s where the money is.

Love to hear your thoughts on this… Cheers, Pete

POST SCRIPT: I’ve recently completely updated and revamped my mindset talk into a jam-packed two hour presentation called: “How To Think Rich, Get Rich & Stay Rich.” I will present this talk as a free added bonus at our Masters of Conversion Super Conversion in October. I trust you can join me. http://www.mastersofconversion.com.auRelated Posts:

“The fools in life want things fast and easy – money, success, attention. Boredom is their great enemy and fear. Whatever they manage to get slips through their hands as fast as it comes in. You, on the other hand, want to outlast your rivals. You are building the foundation for something that can continue to expand. To make this happen, you will have to serve an apprenticeship. You must learn early on to endure the hours of practice and drudgery, knowing that in the end all of that time will translate into a higher pleasure – mastery of a craft and of yourself. Your goal is to reach the ultimate skill level – an intuitive feel for what must come next.”

From Chapter 8, Respect the Process – Mastery

The 50th Law by Robert Greene and 50 Cent

I’ve been getting great feedback on a book I sent some clients last month; “The 50th Law” by Robert Greene and 50 Cent… seems it struck a nerve which was my intention.

The main theme of the book is “living without fear”… which to me is a thoroughly liberating way to live. And I was pleased to see many of my convictions and habits and thought processes were reflected in the book… and I was nodding my head like one of those bobble head toys, and my highlighter was working on overtime as I worked my way through the book.

Growing up in a ghetto and selling drugs at an early age, 50 Cent had to conquer fear in order to survive.

In my youth, I worked on many job sites where you had to have your guard up, had to prove you were the kind of guy to leave alone. From meatworks to the wharves as a Painter & Docker, to Railway camps where knuckles solved any problems, this living without fear became ingrained into my pores. So when I read this book I had many “aha” moments… for the first time seeing that “living without fear” was what I had being doing my whole damn life.

It’s like when I first started teaching copywriting way back in 2004. I’d been a copywriter for many years with many successes under my belt so I knew my shit and I had the runs to prove it. I remember going to a blog where a couple of, well let’s be nice here, let’s say wankers, were having a bitch session about a few people, one of whom was me.

Now they probably thought they would get under my skin…but frankly, I just laughed.

I mean put yourself in my shoes.

I had nearly 20 years of working hard with hard-arsed folks in some real hard situations… I had lived, and lived hard, with my head held high and without apology.

So there was no way a couple of poncy fools still wet behind the ears and no doubt still breast feeding were gonna rattle my cage. They were just lucky I didn’t start doin’ some rattlin’ myself because I’m a damn master at it.

So reading this book confirmed many things for me.

Reinforced things for me.

Helped me clarify a couple of points.

I trust you buy the book and get something BIG out of it too.

I’ll leave you with a couple of quotes taken from Chapter 8 that jumped off the page and hit me like a physical blow… and … you’ll get my take on them and what they meant to me.

QUOTE: (Page 214)

“Before it’s too late we must wake up and realise that real power and success can come only through mastering a process, which in turn depends on a foundation of discipline that we are constantly keeping sharp.”

MY THOUGHTS:

The masses seek success without work. They want quick and easy. We however, know there is a process where we go from rank beginner to true professional. There are shortcuts, and we take them; but we don’t kid ourselves about the work involved. And, what’s maybe even more important, we stay plugged in and are constantly honing our skills.

QUOTE: (Page 216)

“It took this period of forced isolation and repetitive labour to transform him into a genius.”

MY THOUGHTS:

This is where he was talking about Isaac Newton and the plague that swept England and how Isaac had to leave London for the country where he spent his time in isolation working on his theories. It was through this forced isolation that many of Newton’s breakthroughs occurred.

This one struck me as very personal because I read it at a time in my life where there were many changes… and for a couple of weeks I was in isolation to some extent myself. Sure I took some calls and worked and I had a few loose ends to tie up, but for a couple of weeks there all I did was read, think big thoughts, take notes, go through my writing content I had pumped out over the past 10 years, and got very clear on who I was and what I wanted.

It was a truly enlightened couple of weeks and it was only through this isolation, only through this self-focused absorption that the BIG breakthroughs occurred.

Get this: This will never happen for most folks. Everyone is so plugged into the grid these days it’s very hard for them to have original thoughts; very hard for them to focus on what’s important to them. Folks are so caught up in what everybody else is doing they sacrifice their own identity.

Real peace, real breakthroughs come from within.

Look, there are many more quotes in this chapter and in the book that I could call your attention to… however, it’s important you find your own meaning, your own quotes that strike a chord with you.

The BIG point here in this chapter is success is a process and success takes commitment, work and discipline.

You know that don’t you. I realise for many reading this you are working hard, real hard to achieve your goals.

Working long hours.

Hang in there.

Because soon it gets even better.

Soon, when you achieve mastery, other opportunities present themselves. It’s then you start to play a different game where the stakes are higher but through leverage and your own expertise, the money will flow your way almost effortlessly, in stark contrast to how it was throughout your apprenticeship.

But it’s only through mastery that you will reach this higher level. And it’s only through continued sharpening of the saw you will maintain it.Related Posts:

You know, I’ve been around a lot of years in this marketing game. I’ve seen new faces come and go, some stay longer than others, some just drift away into obscurity.

As a student of human nature, I find this interesting.

I find it fascinating how different personalities react to even the slightest bit of fame and success. As a copywriter and sales strategists, this information gets tucked away in my old memory bank to be used as future fodder for upcoming promotions.

(Take what happens to some people when you give them even a hint of power. Like the Parking Metre Cop. He might have been a swell, easy going guy in his past life, but once that uniform goes on stand back buddy! It’s hilarious to watch… but informing. The better we know people, the better we can sell them.)

You see, I’ve seen many people change over night when just a little bit of fame and fortune comes their way. They literally become another person. They forget where they came from, and what’s worse, they forget who helped them to get there. Maybe they don’t forget, but they NEVER acknowledge those who have helped. It’s sad, but it happens a lot. It’s just another human trait that you must be aware of to be a master persuader.

So with that said, I wanna give you a little advice… a little wake up call.

Never forget those who got you to where you are today. Get your ego out of the way.

One thing I’ve spoken about to my Copywriting students and newsletter members is that YES, it’s great making your clients money.

YES, it’s great getting spoken about in front of crowds.

And YES, the financial rewards of being able to persuade and sell with words blitzes any other profession.

But, when all that is over and done with, it’s just you, your laptop and the next promotion.

Only RESULTS count!

So YES, for many years now I’ve had famous marketers praising my name. And YES, for many years I’ve been the “Go-To-Guy” for copywriting in Australia. When other copywriters have failed, I was the guy who rode in on a white horse and saved the day.

And that’s all good, it’s a buzz.

But, I’m constantly working on myself… bringing myself back to what really matters. My family, my friends, and you, my valued reader.

So when I do my next promotion (I’m working on 5 at the moment) my ego isn’t anywhere to be seen.

Results are the only thing that matters in my world.

And I’m forever reminding myself of how far I’ve come from my rebellious nomadic years… and I remind myself of the few key people who helped me to get here.

It’s all good therapy… and giving gratitude is the key to REAL wealth!Related Posts:

Who you allow into your circle of friends, colleagues and or advisors is a critical part of the success formula. We all know the saying, “Lie down with dogs, wake up with fleas” but it goes much deeper than this.

I was discussing this topic recently with a few friends and clients; namely Andrew Grant, Darren Stephens (from Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus fame), and my good mate Mal Emery. Each had their own opinions on this; but each agreed association is a BIG X Factor in the success equation. All of us know the importance of those we let into our circle.

Which brings me to one of my newsletter members.

I was talking to a member the other day that belongs to an informal mastermind group. In every such group, there is always one person that is seen as the kingpin of the group, the Big Kahuna; usually making a lot more money than the rest of the members.

Happens in all groups.

Anyway, in this group, this member is the kingpin. He’s doing a lot better financially than the rest and he’s ideas and advice are respected and taken as gospel.

But here’s where it gets interesting.

This guy has never made more than $350,000.00 a year.

Ever.

He’s been cruising at this level for a few years now; never breaking through this 350K ceiling, never reaching his full potential even though he has had plenty of opportunities to do so.

He’s enjoying his mastermind group.

He’s enjoying the reverence the group has for him.

Frankly, he’s enjoying the feeling of being the kingpin more than making money.

Now this would be cool if he didn’t profess to me on many occasions that he wants to break through this ceiling.

I know it’s been eating away at him this lack of forward motion. He seems to have this 350k number in his head and can’t see a way to get past it.

My advice?

First, I told him he was the big fish in a little pond. Now that’s okay if you’re the shallow type and like to be the centre of attention but frankly, I’d rather challenge myself and keep pushing to be the best I can be and make more money.

Second, I told him to join another group. Join a group where 350K per annum is the barest minimum entry level. Start hanging around folks who make a lot more money than you do and you will naturally rise to the occasion and start moving forward.

Your thinking changes.

Your habits change.

Folks who make a million plus a year think differently and act differently and take action differently than those who make say 250K a year.

Fact is, you can never really rise above and beyond your chosen association. If you play chess, and you continue to play against those at your level or below, your game will eventually stagnant, even regress, but never progress.

It’s the same in business. If you’re hanging around folks who think 350K per annum is cool shit, and your goal is to hit a million +… then it might pay you to find another group.

Get this: In life, you either regress or your progress… I really can’t see any middle ground here.Related Posts:

Have you ever wanted something real bad but you couldn’t have it?

You wanted it so much it hurt; and you carried a gnawing, clutching feeling in your stomach because you couldn’t have this thing you so desperately craved. It could have been a thing, like a car, house or holiday. Or maybe it was a person you ached to be with but knew you could never have.

Whatever it was for you that gave you that bitter sweet pang of longing, this is the feeling, this is the overwhelming desire you must possess in order to reach your goals.

Too many want success, dream of success, wish for success; but few possess an overwhelming, all consuming desire to achieve it. If you lack this desire, this sense of urgency, success will be hard to achieve.

So think back.

Think back to that special thing, or that special person you couldn’t have. Relive that feeling; experience it emotionally in the now.

Feel its power.

This is the feeling you should carry with you daily. This is the feeling you need to achieve success.

Because get this: Success is NOT a straight line. There will be detours, roadblocks and setbacks on your journey. The Universe will challenge you by throwing up obstacles; testing you to see if you really want what you say you do. Without (as Napoleon Hill says) a burning desire and a definiteness of purpose, any little bump in the road can derail your dreams.

I had a mate who waited 5 long years before he won over the girl of his dreams. Talk about commitment! I had another friend who had an idea for a business and 3 years went by until he cracked the code and the money started flowing his way.

Both these guys would have ultimately failed had it not been for their burning desire to achieve.

Anyway, I talk more about this in this month’s newsletter.

For now, how much do you want it, whatever “it” means to you?

Do you merely wish you had it?

Or are you compulsively, deliriously manic about getting it?Related Posts:

Many times, folks get in their own way.

Good things come to them but they have the uncanny ability to stuff things up. When success is in easy reach of their fingers, they pull their hands away.

Why is this?

Many reasons.

It’s a question that I have pondered many times over the years. A question that has seen me read hundreds of books on the subject; go to the seminars, debate this question over wine with sharp-minded friends.

It SHOULD interest you as well if living a successful life, in ALL areas of your life, is important to you.

It’s a good question.

Why do folks fail so near the finishing line?

A good question like this begets many questions that need to be answered. If you think you may be suffering from this “fear of success” or whatever you want to call it, the questions below and my comments will help.

PERSONAL NOTE: Coming from a working class background and with a 20 or more year track record as a classical underachiever, I had a perverse way of stuffing up good things that came my way. It was only through extensive self-appraisal, the reading of dozens and dozens of books, that I was able to get rid of all the crap inside my head. (Most of it anyway.) This self-sabotaging behaviour is more common than you think. I’ve had many private conversations with clients, some of whom you’d know; who look extremely successful but have low self-images; many secretly feel guilty about their success.

Do you believe you will be financially successful? If you don’t really believe in your gut, that you can be successful, if you can’t see it and feel it, it makes it harder for you to achieve it.

Do you see yourself as a successful person now? Look, if you’re not successful now but you want to be and you’re working on yourself and your skills to be successful, then you should start feeling successful NOW, not later. You’ve got to feel successful because you are actively involved with shaping your own destiny. Fewer than 5% of the population do this!

Fewer than 5% of the population actually endeavour to improve themselves and add value to themselves. If you do, you damn well should see yourself as successful.

Do you think you deserve to be rich? Man, I’m going to write a book on this one. Some folks are hung up on money and when they get it, they spend it because they feel guilty. See Lotto winners for numerous examples. To be RICH, you have to think RICH. Believe in yourself that you deserve to be rich. Hey, why not you? RICH people aren’t smarter than the masses. They just think differently and get more done.

Do you realise success takes work? Folks who get caught up with the latest “attraction-fad”, who think if they think good thoughts they’ll get rich; are in 99.9% of the cases, left bitterly disappointment. Success is messy and it takes work. (You think I’m not working here?)

Do you feel superior to the masses? This one makes some people cringe. It’s very rarely spoken about. But here it is. Most successful people I know have a secret, unspoken feeling of superiority to the masses. And why shouldn’t they feel this way? They don’t bitch and moan, they get on with it. They don’t sit around wasting time, they move. They create jobs, move forward, help charities, improve themselves, push forward, put up with the bull shit of regulations, rules, taxation, staff, and on it goes. Of course they should feel superior! But here’s the thing, you’ve got to keep it to yourself. You can’t say it out loud. But you can sure damn well feel it… and you should!

Okay, I’m going to talk about this subject a bit more in the coming weeks on this blog. And in this month’s newsletter, in The Wizard On Wealth Section, I’ve written an article called “Charlie Sheen Implodes” that tackles this subject in detail. I talk about how and why some folks self-sabotage when success starts coming their way. I also talk about how I have opened doors for people, effectively fast-tracking their journey, and how it pains me when some do not reach their full potential, but slip back into anonymity.

Here’s how I summed it up in the newsletter…

“You see in life, doors can be opened for you so you get to your destination quicker, easier, and without all the fuss and angst of finding the right key for yourself. This can shave years and years off your journey so you get to your destination in record time. But here’s what I want you to get:

You’ve still got to be the right person to get through the door, and once through, you have to be the right person to remain in such an exclusive room.”

Okay, there’s more coming in future weeks. For now, I’m outta here as I’m half way through a BIG launch for a client plus multiple deadlines are looming on the horizon.

I’d love to hear your comments.

See you next week, Pete.

Each month in my newsletter I include a Wizard on Wealth article.

We talk about your thoughts, your actions, your habits; and how to align them to achieve your goals.

When you say it real quick like I did above it sounds real easy doesn’t it. All you have to do is think the right thoughts, take the right actions, and change any bad habits into successful habits and BINGO! Everything you ever dreamed about is REAL! Trouble is, in the real world of business and day to day living, it’s easy to let your goals slide while you take care of business.

But here’s something to keep in mind while rushing around getting things done. In our haste we lose touch with one ultimate truth:

Success starts within

Here’s how I sum it up in my newsletter…

“Like a Wizard peering into a crystal ball, you too can accurately predict your future earnings. Your actions, thoughts and behaviours of today determine what you reap in the future.”

So this brings me to you.

Where is your head today?

What are you thinking about?

Think about those questions for a minute. Think how you are feeling. Pissed off? Angry? Worried? Stressed? Or are you bursting with optimism with energy to burn?

And here’s the money question…

Are your thoughts helping or hindering your Goals?

This is where we’ve got to be honest with ourselves and stop bullshitting ourselves and answer the hard questions.

Because here’s what I know…

It’s an amazing feeling when you realise you have the POWER to change… and you have the power to change your life starting today.

What you have now is enough and who you are now is enough.

Only one thing is needed. One word to change. One word to galvanise action and one word to move forward. One word to reap untold rewards.

The word is simply…

Decide

I wish you pleasant thoughts (and actions).

And BIG dreams.

I welcome your comments.

Cheers,Related Posts:

When you begin to taste the sweetness of success, there are many pitfalls to watch out for. You really can be your own worst enemy. There are many temptations that can lead you away from your goals.

They come in many forms.

Advisors telling you only what you wanna hear, the lure of easy money from dubious characters, excess consumption of alcohol or the allure of drugs, folks of the opposite sex with questioning motives, and on it goes. It can be a minefield and it’s easy to get caught up in the rush of success.

That’s why it’s important you have your own set of rules you live by. A strict set of guidelines to keep you on the straight and narrow. Because I’ve seen too many talented folks come unstuck. They did everything they could to sabotage their success.

Look, I’m the last guy to tell you not to enjoy life. If you know me, been out with me, read my stuff, you know I enjoy the good life. Good wine, good food, great people and conversation, is the juice I need to keep me going. But the work comes first. Do the work then party. It’s that simple.

To an outsider, the work I do writing newsletters, speeches, products, copy etc. seems very creative. Nothing could be further from the truth. Writing is actually a product of enormous self-imposed discipline. Being a pro-writer means plunking myself down in this chair, shedding my mind of ALL distractions, then NOT moving until the work is done. Glamorous it ain’t. But that’s the truth.

Most times, those who wish to do what I do fail because they haven’t the discipline to stick with it. Many have talent, but they haven’t the sheer willpower to focus on the job at hand and get the work done. They are too easily distracted. Too easily led astray. Too easily sidetracked. Some succeed for a while but then burn out. Some never succeed at all.

The point is, life is a grand adventure and I try to suck out every last second. I work hard and I play hard. That’s who I am. And look, sure, sometimes, I play too hard and maybe one day I will grow up (but I’m not betting on it).

However, the work comes first. No work, no party. That’s why many have come and gone but I’m still here. Because I understand the importance of discipline. I understand there’s a “party side” to me that must be managed to maintain and grow my success. And I surround myself with advisors that give it to me straight.

Above all, I’m clearly focused on what’s best for me and my family and what’s best for my Clients and Newsletter Members. Nothing and nobody will ever lead me away from the rules I’ve set.

A good exercise for you is to be aware of any distractions in your life that are moving you further away from your goals. Make a big damn list. Think long and hard about the distractions and temptations in your life and which ones you should eliminate immediately. This is liberating stuff. Your productivity will shoot through the roof… and… so will your income.
